Warning for portions of the following rivers in central and southern
Indiana...

...Observed flooding changed from Moderate to Moderate severity for
the following rivers in Indiana...
...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity for the
following rivers in Indiana...
East Fork White River at Seymour affecting Jackson...Lawrence and
Washington Counties
.The river level at Seymour continues to rise and was at 19.04 feet
as of about 11 PM Tuesday evening. The river is expected to crest by
3 AM Wednesday, probably around 19.05 feet, though the level has
continued to rise beyond where originally expected to crest, thus
interests along the East Fork White River in the vicinity of Seymour
should closely monitor the situation.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 19.0 feet by
3 AM Wednesday. The river will fall below flood stage
Saturday afternoon.
* At 19.0 feet...A major flood is in progress. Evacuations may be
necessary near Rockford...near Brownstown and at Shields Town.
Shields Town is located about 6 miles west of Seymour and according
to local residents a collection of river cabins. At this level
residents generally leave. River observer's house becomes an
island. Many roads are flooded. 70% of the flood plain in Jackson
County is underwater. An agricultural disaster during the growing
season.

* At 13.0 feet...Significant flooding of Mississinewa River in
northern Randolph county. Water is likely on SR 1 just south of SR
28. West CR 825 N east of SR 1 and West River Road west of SR 1
and possibly other county roads are flooded. Little League Field
in Ridgeville is flooded. Noticeable agricultural flooding in
progress.

River...White River...Youngs Creek...
.Significant to near significant river flooding will develop along
the Muscatatuck...White and East Fork White Rivers in southern
Indiana by the weekend. Flood crests will approach those seen in
July 1979. In central Indiana...widespread flooding will prevail
through Thursday. Flooding is not expected along the upper White
River from the Muncie area through the Ravenswood area.
The latest round of storms dumped 2 to more than 6 inches of
rainfall on a wet central and southeast Indiana during Monday and
Monday night. Much of this area has now received 5 to over 12 inches
of rainfall during the past week.
Flooding will last from a few days on small streams to passed July 24
in southwest Indiana.

* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by tomorrow late morning and
continue to rise to near 13.8 feet by Saturday early afternoon.the
river will fall below flood stage by Wednesday evening.
* At 14.0 feet...Flooding approaches local residents located on low
flood plain areas on local streams. State Road 450 just east of
Williams is extensively flooded and becomes a recreational area for
local geese and ducks. Only the highest campgrounds at Williams
Dam are out of water. Huron and Williams Road (Williams Wooden
Bridge road) flooded immediately south of Indiana 450 just west of
Williams. Dillman Road (CR 1000 W) immediately north of Indiana
450 begins to flood. Indiana 450 begins to flood at Coxton Road.

April 2008, Windom Road had one lane open. On March 11 2011 SR 550
just south of Loogootee was closed by high water on the south side

* At 22.9 feet...A 25 foot section of Levee Unit 8 failed at this
level on March 6 2011...flooding local roads behind the levee.
Flooding not nearly as bad as June 2008 levee failure. Flooding
was very close to one of the June 2008 failures.

* Forecast...The river will continue rising to near 23.9 feet by
early Monday morning then begin falling.
* At 24.2 feet...During April 2013 when Petersburg reached this level,
the water only reached the white line of SR 257 south of
Washington, but never closed the road. Shoals only went to 11.67
feet during April 2013. This is the first that locals can remember
such a high stage for Petersburg and SR 257 remaining open.

* At 13.2 feet...Lowland flooding in progress along Driftwood River in
northern Bartholomew County on April 6, 2011. Double Y Saddle Club
area flooded. At least 6 inches of water flowing over CR 950N to
Club. Water is less than one foot away from CR 330W just south of
its intersection with Ohio Ridge Rd. CR 500N west of CR 250W is
flooded blocking vehicular access to residences near the river
bank. Lowell Public Access site is open but ramp is totally
flooded. Water close to one residence at Shelby CR 1000S and CR
900W.

.Extensive river flooding continued along portions of the White
...East Fork White and Muscatatuck Rivers in southern Indiana.
Late Wednesday morning the crest on the White River was nearing
Spencer and the crest on the East Fork White River just passed
Seymour. The crest of 19.5 feet at Seymour was the highest for July
and early August since 2009.
High water from central Indiana will arrive in southwest and south
central Indiana during the weekend. Flood crests along the White
River from Elliston to Hazleton will be similar to those seen in
July 1979. Flood crests in the Rivervale...Bedford and Shoals
areas may be 2 to 4 feet higher than those of August 2009.
In western Indiana...flooding will continue along much of the
Wabash River through July 21. Flood waters from the White River
may cause significant flooding to return to the Mount Carmel
area early next week. Flooding of small streams in central Indiana
will end by Thursday evening.
Portions of the Wabash River have been above flood stage for five
weeks. Flooding may continue in southwest Indiana into the last
week of July.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.

.Extensive river flooding continued along portions of the White,
East Fork White, and Muscatatuck Rivers in southern Indiana.
Late Wednesday morning the crest on the White River was nearing
Spencer and the crest on the East Fork White River just passed
Seymour. The crest of 19.5 feet at Seymour was the highest for July
and early August since 2009.
High water from central Indiana will arrive in southwest and south
central Indiana during the weekend. Flood crests along the White
River from Elliston to Hazleton will be similar to those seen in
July 1979. Flood crests in the Rivervale, Bedford, and Shoals
areas may be 2 to 4 feet higher than those of August 2009.
In western Indiana...flooding will continue along much of the
Wabash River through July 21. Flood waters from the White River
may cause significant flooding to return to the Mount Carmel
area early next week. Flooding of small streams in central Indiana
will end by Thursday evening.
Portions of the Wabash River have been above flood stage for five
weeks. Flooding may continue in southwest Indiana into the last
week of July.
Precautionary and Preparedness Actions...
Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go
another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. Recreational and
agricultural interests should remain alert to changing river
conditions.
