Falling Creek near East Juliette affecting Jones County
.Recent heavy rainfall has caused significant runoff into streams and
rivers which will cause flooding in some areas.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
All persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest
forecasts...and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect
life and property.
The latest stage data was furnished in cooperation with the United
States Geological Survey.

rising.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by early this morning and
continue to rise to near 15.8 feet by late this morning.The river
will fall below flood stage by this afternoon.
* At 15.0 feet...Minor flooding expands into the woodlands and
natural flood plain along the creek in the Piedmont National
Wildlife Refuge upstream and downstream from the gage on Round
Oak-Juliette Road. The rapid flow increases around 50 percent from
the flood stage level.

* The river will continue rising to near 16.5 feet by this afternoon.
The river will fall below flood stage by tomorrow afternoon... but is
expected to rise back above flood stage wednesday night with additional
rainfall.
* At 17 feet...Moderate flooding begins. Significant flooding
occurs in the woodlands along the creek in the Piedmont National
Wildlife Refuge upstream and downstream from the gage on Round
Oak-Juliette Road. The rapid flow almost doubles in volume compared
to the flood stage level.

* At 23 feet...Moderate flooding continues. Portions of the Old
Balls Ferry Road leading to the boat ramp becomes flooded with
a foot of water or more. The entire dirt parking lot near the
boat ramp is under three to five feet of water. Extensive
flooding of the woodlands near the river continues.

* Flood stage is 21 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by Friday afternoon and
continue to rise to near 27.3 feet by Sunday afternoon.
* At 27.0 feet...Significant flooding expands into the woodlands and
agricutural areas upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S.
Highway 80. The flood waters will be around 4 feet deep on Rex
Miller Road and Old River Lane. Several homes on these roads will
be under two feet of water. Also a few homes on River Ridge Road
will be flooded with a foot of water. Portions of the Riverview
Park Golf Course will be flooded.

bridge.

* At 4 AM Thursday the stage was 32.7 feet...and
steady.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 27 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 32.9 feet by this morning.
The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow late morning.
* At 32 feet...Moderate flooding begins and expands further into
the woodlands and pastures along the river. Fishing Creek continues
to back up and spread further into woodland areas and covers some
roads in low lying areas. Tanyard Branch Stream continues to flood.
Sinclair Dam will likely have five gates open to reach this height.

woodlands and wetlands along the river upstream and downstream from
a gage located by a dirt boat ramp on the west side of Avant Mine
off Adams Road in Washington County. The water level will begin to
surround the elevated USGS gage house.

* At 23 feet...Moderate flooding continues. Portions of the Old
Balls Ferry Road leading to the boat ramp becomes flooded with a
foot of water or more. The entire dirt parking lot near the boat
ramp is under three to five feet of water. Extensive flooding of
the woodlands near the river continues.

* From tomorrow afternoon until further notice.
* At 3 AM Thursday the stage was 14.7 feet...and
rising.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 21 feet.
* Forecast to rise above flood stage by tomorrow afternoon and
continue to rise to near 25.8 feet by early Monday morning.
* At 25.5 feet...Significant flooding continues in the woodlands and
agricutural areas upstream and downstream from the gage on U.S.
Highway 80. The flood waters will be around two feet deep on Rex
Miller Road...downstream left bank of the Highway 80 bridge and Old
River Lane...upstream and left bank from the bridge. Some of the
homes on these roads will begin to experience flooding. Also a few
homes begin to flood on River Ridge Road...downstream and right
bank from the U.S. Highway 80 bridge.

Some homes on Dead River Road in the south end of Montgomery County
become surrounded by water. Water begins to cover lower portions of
Dead River Road.

The Big Creek near Cumming.
* Until this afternoon.
* At 3 AM Thursday the stage was 7.8 feet...and
steady.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 6 feet.
* The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by late this
morning.
* At 8 feet...Minor flooding will expand into the natural flood
plain of the creek upstream and downstream from the gage at Atlanta
Highway or Georgia Highway 9. Most of the sidewalk and boardwalk of
the Big Creek Greenway will be under a foot or two of water. The
areas under the Georgia 400 Highway and McFarland Road will be
covered with around three feet of water. A portion of the sidewalk
under Majors Road will be covered with around four feet of water.

* At 3 AM Thursday the stage was 8.4 feet...and
slowly rising.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 7 feet.
* The river will continue rising to near 9.0 feet by this morning.
The river will fall below flood stage late Sunday morning.
* At 9 feet...Minor flooding expands along the creek from near
Cumming to Alpharetta and Roswell. Backyards of homes off Seale
Drive and Gunter Court and portions of the Golf of Georgia begin to
flood. The Big Creek Greenway experiences significant flooding up
to 3 feet deep...which results in closure of most of the paths.
This especially occurs upstream and downstream from the gage on
Kimball Bridge Road and Rock Hill Park. A large portion of the YMCA
Campground off Preston Ridge Road will be under a foot of water.

closed to the public. The Phenix City Amphitheater on the Alabama
side will begin to flood.

agricultural lands east of Macon and well downstream will be under
1 to 5 feet of water.

SHORT TERM...CURRENT RADAR LOOP SHOWS FIRST WAVE BRINGING RAIN TO THE AREA IS OVER THE STATE RIGHT NOW. THERE IS A NARROW BAND OF HEAVY PRECIP EMBEDDED IN THIS WAVE AND MOST LOCATIONS ACROSS CENTRAL GA HAVE SEEN 1 TO 2 INCHES OVER THE PAST 8 HOURS. A FEW ISOLATED LOCATIONS HAVE SEEN 2.5 INCHES BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE AREA WILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE WATER WITH NO FLOODING CONCERNS THIS MORNING. THE MAIN ISSUE WILL BE TONIGHT AS THE SECOND WAVE MOVES NORTH ALONG THE STALLED FRONT AND PUSHES RIGHT BACK OVER THE SAME AREA BRINGING MORE PRECIPITATION.
