...Severe Weather Continues Over the Eastern Ozarks this Evening...

.MESOSCALE DISCUSSION...
Issued at 810 PM CDT THU APR 3 2014

A Line of storms continues to track east across the area. Moderate
instability remains in place ahead of these storms with 1000 to
1500 J/kg MLCAPE and 50 J/kg low level CAPE. These storms are
developing ahead of the cold front and line segments that surge to
the east/east northeast will have the potential for winds in
excess of 70 mph. Low level wind shear would also support a spin
up tornado potential in any line segment that can surge in the
east/east northeast direction. A few of the strong updrafts could
also produce some isolated hail to the size of quarters. This line
of storms is steadily east and will push off to the east between
10 pm and midnight. The severe risk will end after this line of
storms passes through the area.

In addition to the line of storms a few supercells have developed
across north central Arkansas. Will have to watch these as they
may clip far south central Missouri. Large hail to over golf balls
and a tornado risk will occur if any supercells can clip the
area. This risk is low.

.SHORT TERM...(This Evening through Tonight)
Issued at 240 PM CDT THU APR 3 2014

A cold front is pushing into the area. An area of convection that
developed this morning is pushing across central Missouri this
afternoon and will push out of the area by the late afternoon
hours. The cold front is pushing into the western portions of the
forecast area and additional storms are starting to develop across
extreme southeastern Kansas into eastern Oklahoma. The atmosphere
is becoming unstable ahead of the front and deep layer shear will
support supercells. These storms will track east across the area
and form into a line of storms near the Highway 65 corridor and
will then sweep through the rest of the area and exit to the west
near midnight. Please refer to the Mesoscale discussion above for
more details on the severe potential this afternoon and evening.

Surface high pressure and a cooler airmass will begin to build into
the region.

.LONG TERM...(Friday Night through Thursday)
Issued at 240 PM CDT THU APR 3 2014

Cooler conditions will spread into the area behind this system
Friday into the weekend. Lows will likely drop to near the
freezing mark Friday night into Saturday. A couple of upper level
disturbances will track through the area late this weekend into
the middle of next week which will bring some chances for light
rain and keep the cool conditions in place across the region.

.AVIATION...(For the 00Z TAFS through 00Z Friday Evening)
Issued at 549 PM CDT THU APR 3 2014

Windy conditions persist across the region. However, the broken
line of convection may just miss all of the aerodromes. At this
time, may see a cell moving across KBBG between 00z and 01z.

Once the front passes, winds will veer around to the west and
northwest. Will likely also see some MVFR ceilings after 07z associated
with the cold air advection behind the front. These ceilings will
mix out after daybreak. Expect gusty winds during the day on
Friday as well as the pressure gradient will remain rather tight
behind the front.

  SIGNIFICANT LIGHTNING RISK.

DISCUSSION...

  A LINE OF STORMS WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK EAST ACROSS THE EASTERN
  OZARKS THIS EVENING. ANY LINE SEGMENTS WITHIN THIS LINE THAT CAN
  SURGE TO THE EAST OR EAST NORTHEAST WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO
  RESULT IN WINDS GREATER THAN 70 MPH. EMBEDDED SPIN UP TORNADOES
  WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE WITH THESE LINE SEGMENTS. THERE COULD ALSO
  BE SOME PENNY TO QUARTER SIZE HAIL IN A FEW OF THE STRONGER
  STORMS.

  IN ADDITION TO THE LINE OF STORMS SUPERCELL STORMS HAVE
  DEVELOPED ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL ARKANSAS. THESE STORMS MAY CLIP
  FAR SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI. HAIL TO THE SIZE OF GOLF BALLS OR
  LARGER WILL BE BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY SUPERCELL ALONG WITH A
  TORNADO RISK.

  ALL OF THIS ACTIVITY WILL PUSH EAST OF THE AREA BY MIDNIGHT.

  IN ADDITIONAL TO THE SEVERE STORMS SOME MINOR FLOODING OF FLOOD
  PRONE AREAS INCLUDING LOW WATER CROSSINGS WILL REMAIN POSSIBLE
