...VERY HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW TO CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON...

A BAND OF VERY HEAVY LAKE EFFECT SNOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS CENTRAL
AND NORTHERN OSWEGO COUNTY...AND MAINLY THE TUG HILL REGION OF
CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN LEWIS COUNTY THIS AFTERNOON. THE HEAVIEST
SNOW EXTENDS INLAND FROM AROUND OSWEGO...NINE MILE POINT AND
MEXICO...TO JUST NORTH OF PARISH...TO AROUND PULASKI ALONG
I-81...EASTWARD TO AREAS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
ALTMAR...REDFIELD...OSCEOLA...NORTH OSCEOLA AND HIGHMARKET. THE
MOST INTENSE PORTION OF THIS BAND WILL OSCILLATE SLIGHTLY
NORTHWARD AT TIMES...POSSIBLY IMPACTING AREAS AS FAR NORTH AS
SANDY CREEK.

SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE
HEAVIEST SNOWS. IN ADDITION...WEST WINDS GUSTING 20 TO 30 MPH WILL
RESULT IN CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY
WHERE NORTH...SOUTH ORIENTED ROADWAYS CUT ACROSS OPEN AREAS. THE
COMBINATION OF SNOW AND WIND WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES DOWN TO
AROUND ZERO AT TIMES...CREATING NEARLY WHITEOUT CONDITIONS.

THIS WILL MAKE FOR TREACHEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ACROSS THESE
AREAS INCLUDING THE TUG HILL...AND ALONG I-81 FROM JUST NORTH OF
PARISH...TO AS FAR NORTH AS SANDY CREEK. TRAVEL ACROSS PORTIONS
OF THESE AREAS MAY BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON...SO
DRIVERS ARE URGED TO CHECK LOCAL ROAD CONDITIONS BEFORE VENTURING
OUT. IF YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST TRAVEL THIS AFTERNOON...USE COMMON
SENSE...SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW PLENTY OF EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR
DESTINATION.
