MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 1055
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0400 PM CDT MON JUN 04 2012

AREAS AFFECTED...EASTERN NM AND TX PANHANDLE/TX SOUTHERN PLAINS

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH POSSIBLE

VALID 042100Z - 042230Z

PROBABILITY OF WATCH ISSUANCE...40 PERCENT

SUMMARY...A LOCALIZED DOWNBURST/PULSE-HAIL THREAT WILL EXIST INTO
EARLY EVENING ACROSS PORTIONS OF EAST-CENTRAL NM AND THE TX
PANHANDLE/TX SOUTH PLAINS...WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE AS
WELL. A WATCH DOES NOT APPEAR LIKELY UNLESS STORM-SCALE TRENDS
DICTATE OTHERWISE.

DISCUSSION...TSTMS HAVE INCREASED OVER THE PAST FEW HOURS IN
VICINITY OF A WEAK BOUNDARY AND OTHERWISE AN EASTERLY LOW-LEVEL
UPSLOPE REGIME ACROSS THE REGION. WITH VERY WEAK DEEP TROPOSPHERIC
FLOW IN PROXIMITY TO THE UPPER RIDGE...STORMS WILL LIKELY CONTINUE
TO PROPAGATE GENERALLY WESTWARD ACROSS THE REGION. PARTICULARLY
ORGANIZED/SUSTAINED INDIVIDUAL UPDRAFTS ARE NOT EXPECTED...BUT AMPLE
INSTABILITY AND A DEEPLY MIXED BOUNDARY LAYER MAY ALLOW FOR SOME
DOWNBURST AND PULSE-TYPE HAIL POTENTIAL INTO EARLY EVENING.
