* AT 500 AM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR SHOWED
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS STREAMING ACROSS WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE
SOUTHERN TIER. THIS WILL BRING LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL TO SOME
LOCATIONS.

* IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY RAIN...SOME STORMS MAY HAVE STRONG GUSTY
WINDS UP TO 45 MPH.

THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE VERY HEAVY RAIN...AND COULD CAUSE
LOCALIZED FLOODING OF ROADS AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

AN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS IS APPROACHING THE BUFFALO METROPOLITAN
AREA...WITH THIS EXPECTED TO MOVE ACROSS THE CITY BETWEEN 600 AM AND
700 AM. MOST OF ERIE COUNTY WILL RECEIVE AT LEAST SOME
RAINFALL...INCLUDING THE NORTH TOWNS...SOUTH TOWNS...AND DOWNTOWN
BUFFALO. RAIN WILL BE HEAVY IN AT TIMES...WITH RAINFALL RATES TO AN
INCH AN HOUR. THIS WILL CAUSE PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS...AND
COULD CAUSE LOCALIZED FLOODING OF ROADS AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

IN ADDITION TO THE HEAVY RAIN...STORMS MAY ALSO CAUSE WIND GUSTS TO
35 MPH...AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING. MOTORISTS SHOULD PLAN EXTRA TIME
FOR THE MORNING COMMUTE.
