.DISCUSSION...LATEST ROUND OF SEVERE WINTER WEATHER FINALLY
BEGINNING TO WIND DOWN OVER THE BERING SEA...Y-K DELTA...WESTERN
ARCTIC AND WESTERN INTERIOR AS 1055 MB HIGH BUILDS INTO THE
EASTERN BERING SEA THIS MORNING. WINTER STORM WARNINGS HAVE A FEW
MORE HOURS ACROSS THE CENTRAL INTERIOR WHERE SNOW SHOWERS ALONG
WITH BLOWING SNOW CONTINUE. ONLY AN INCH OR TWO MORE SNOW EXPECTED
UNDER THE HEAVIEST SNOW SHOWERS THIS MORNING...MAINLY EAST OF
FAIRBANKS. WINDS ARE FINALLY BEGINNING TO DIMINISH IN THE FAIRBANKS
AREA WITH GUSTS ONLY TO AROUND 30 KTS. VISIBILITIES STILL POOR IN
THE VALLEYS AND VERY POOR ALONG HIGHER SUMMITS.

WINDS AND SNOW TO CONTINUE IN THE EASTERN INTERIOR THROUGH NOON.
IMPRESSIVE 45 KT GUST NOTED AT PAOR. FAR EASTERN ARCTIC WILL
CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS INTO SUNDAY MORNING AS
PRESSURE GRADIENT BETWEEN THE BUILDING HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM IN THE
BERING SEA AND THE EXITING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM TO THE EAST
MAINTAINS A STRONG WEST TO NORTHWEST FLOW.

A MORE TRANQUIL WEATHER PATTERN RETURNS TO NORTHERN ALASKA AS A
STRONG HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE BUILDS INTO THE WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE
CWA THROUGH EARLY TO THE MIDDLE PART OF NEXT WEEK.
