AREAS AFFECTED...NERN KS...NWRN MO

CONCERNING...SEVERE POTENTIAL...WATCH POSSIBLE

VALID 051156Z - 051300Z

AN ISOLATED SEVERE THREAT MAY PERSIST ACROSS NERN KS AND DEVELOP
ACROSS NWRN MO THIS MORNING. HAIL WOULD LIKELY BE THE MAIN THREAT
WITH THE STORMS. WW ISSUANCE REMAINS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE REGION
ESPECIALLY IF THE NUMBER OF STRONG STORMS CAN INCREASE WITH TIME.

A CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS ERN KS IS ONGOING ALONG THE NRN
END OF A CORRIDOR OF INSTABILITY WHERE OBJECTIVE ANALYSIS SHOWS WEAK
INSTABILITY WITH SBCAPE VALUES IN THE 250 TO 500 J/KG RANGE. THE
STORMS ARE LIKELY BEING SUPPORTED BY A SUBTLE SHORTWAVE TROUGH
ORIENTED FROM NE KS SEWD ACROSS SW MO. AS FLOW INCREASES ACROSS THE
REGION THIS MORNING DUE TO A STRENGTHENING LOW-LEVEL JET OVER THE
ARKLATEX...STORM COVERAGE MAY EXPAND NEWD ACROSS PARTS OF NWRN MO.
STRONG DEEP LAYER SHEAR EVIDENT ON REGIONAL WSR-88D VWPS MAY SUPPORT
A SEVERE THREAT WITH THE STRONGER CORES. THE STORMS ARE ELEVATED DUE
TO A STRONG CAPPING INVERSION WHICH SHOULD RESULT IN A HAIL THREAT
BUT LIMIT THE WIND DAMAGE POTENTIAL.
