NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

AREAS AFFECTED...NERN KS

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 543...

VALID 040118Z - 040215Z

THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT FOR TORNADO WATCH 543 CONTINUES.

EARLY EVENING SURFACE ANALYSIS INDICATED A BOUNDARY EXTENDING ESEWD
FROM THE STORM IN OTTAWA COUNTY KS TO WEST CENTRAL MO...WHILE
ANOTHER BOUNDARY/OUTFLOW BOUNDARY EXTENDS EWD FROM FAR SRN NEB INTO
FAR NRN MO. A VERY MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIR MASS ALONG AND S OF THE
FORMER BOUNDARY IN NERN KS COMBINED WITH EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR AROUND
50 KT WILL MAINTAIN POTENTIAL FOR STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS THIS
EVENING. ALTHOUGH OBJECTIVE ANALYSES SUGGEST SURFACE BASED
INHIBITION IS INCREASING ACROSS THIS REGION...BUT PROXIMITY OF
OTTAWA STORM TO THE SURFACE BOUNDARY AND 30 KT SLY LLJ INTO THIS
REGION SUGGESTS STORM MAY STILL BE SURFACE BASED WITH AN ATTENDANT
THREAT FOR ISOLATED TORNADOES.
