NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE INTO CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA THIS AFTERNOON...WITH A FEW THUNDERSTORMS BECOMING SEVERE. THE GREATEST THREAT WILL BE GUSTY WINDS IN EXCESS OF 58 MPH...ALONG WITH HAIL AROUND THE SIZE OF PENNIES. IN ADDITION...THE STRONGER STORMS WILL PRODUCE TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS AND CONTINUOUS TO EXCESSIVE LIGHTNING STRIKES. THE HEAVY RAIN MAY LEAD TO SOME MINOR FLOODING IN URBAN AREAS WHILE THE LIGHTNING MAY CAUSE A FEW HOUSE FIRES AND SOME POWER OUTAGES. FINALLY...HEAT INDEX VALUES ALONG AND EAST OF HIGHWAY 1 WILL PEAK AT 100 TO 104 DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON.
