ILLINOIS...NORTHWEST ILLINOIS...WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS...EAST
CENTRAL IOWA...NORTHEAST IOWA...SOUTHEAST IOWA AND NORTHEAST
MISSOURI.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP LATE THIS
AFTERNOON AND OVERNIGHT. ASIDE FROM LIGHTNING NEAR THUNDERSTORMS
...THE PRIMARY THREAT WILL BE HEAVY RAIN.

LOW PRESSURE IN THE SOUTHERN PLAINS WILL INCREASE THE SOUTHERLY FLOW
FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO INTO THE MIDWEST. THIS WILL LEAD TO THE
DEVELOPMENT OF SHOWERS AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS OVER MOST OF THE
REGION LATER THIS AFTERNOON. SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL
CONTINUE TONIGHT...WITH LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL. A FLOOD WATCH IS IN
EFFECT FOR TONIGHT FOR NORTHWEST ILLINOIS AND MUCH OF EASTERN IOWA.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

THE HEAVY RAIN THREAT WILL CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY. A NEARLY
STATIONARY FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL EXTEND FROM NORTHWEST ILLINOIS INTO
NORTHERN MISSOURI ON FRIDAY. LOW PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO TRACK
SLOWLY INTO THE MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL
OF 1 TO 2 INCHES IS EXPECTED...WITH LOCAL 3 INCH AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. A
FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES ON FRIDAY FOR NORTHWEST ILLINOIS AND MUCH OF
EASTERN IOWA. THE RAIN SHOULD DIMINISH FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY.

MANY AREA RIVERS REMAIN ABOVE OR NEAR FLOOD STAGE. THE EXPECTED
RAINFALL MAY AGGRAVATE THE ONGOING FLOODING SITUATION...OR EVEN
CREATE NEW FLOODING. STAY TUNED FOR LATER FORECASTS AND UPDATES
CONCERNING THE IMPACT OF THIS ADDITIONAL RAIN ON AREA RIVERS.

ANOTHER STRONG STORM SYSTEM AND COLD FRONT WILL PUSH INTO THE REGION
EARLY NEXT WEEK. THERE WILL BE A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS...HOWEVER
IT IS TOO EARLY TO ASSESS THE POTENTIAL FOR THESE STORMS TO BECOME
SEVERE.
