THE HEAVIEST SNOW WILL BE ABOVE 9000 FEET. BRISK TO WINDY CONDITIONS WILL CREATE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE LIKELY. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 FEET ARE EXPECTED ABOVE 9000 FEET ACROSS THE SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS TODAY AND TONIGHT. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS UP TO 6 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE LOWER ELEVATIONS OF THE RIO GRANDE AND UPPER ARKANSAS RIVER VALLEYS TODAY AND TONIGHT. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS TELLER COUNTY AND THE SANGRE DE CRISTO MOUNTAINS THIS MORNING. A MIXTURE OF LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE...FREEZING FOG...AND FLURRIES WILL BE POSSIBLE FROM COLORADO SPRINGS TO LA JUNTA TO LAMAR AND NORTHWARD LATE TONIGHT. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE OVER THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE ON SATURDAY...AS A MAJOR WINTER STORM MOVES THROUGH THE ROCKIES. UP TO A FOOT OF ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATION WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE HIGH PASSES. OVER THE EASTERN PLAINS...SPOTTY LIGHT FREEZING DRIZZLE OR SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE POSSIBLE EARLY IN THE MORNING. BY SATURDAY EVENING...A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH EASTERN COLORADO AND BRING THE CHANCE FOR PERIODS OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW OVER THE EASTERN MOUNTAINS AND PLAINS. SEVERAL INCHES OF SNOW ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE PLAINS...WITH GREATER ACCUMULATIONS IN THE MOUNTAINS. ANOTHER STORM MAY AFFECT THE REGION ON MONDAY INTO EARLY TUESDAY. THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL LIKELY BRING MORE SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS TO THE MOUNTAINS...AND POSSIBLY SOME LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS OVER THE PLAINS. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT MEET REPORTING CRITERIA FOR SPOTTERS WILL BE LIKELY ACROSS ALL MOUNTAINS AND HIGH VALLEYS TODAY AND TONIGHT. ALSO...WEATHER CONDITIONS THAT MEET REPORTING CRITERIA FOR SPOTTERS WILL BE LIKELY FOR EL PASO...OTERO...CROWLEY...BENT...PROWERS... AND KIOWA COUNTIES LATE TONIGHT.
