THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST
FLORIDA AND WEST CENTRAL FLORIDA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

INCREASING WINDS BEHIND THE COLD FRONT PASSAGE WILL BRING BREEZY
CONDITIONS TODAY ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA WITH WINDS IN THE 20 TO 25
MPH RANGE WITH GUSTS AROUND 35 MPH. A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN
EFFECT THIS AFTERNOON FOR THE INTERIOR COUNTIES OF
SUMTER...CITRUS...POLK..HARDEE AND DESOTO AS RELATIVE HUMIDITIES
NEAR OR BELOW 35 PERCENT WILL COMBINE WITH WINDS IN THE 25 TO 30
MPH RANGE TO CREATE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FOR BURNING.

STRONGER WINDS OFFSHORE FROM THE NORTHWEST OF 30 MPH WITH HIGHER
GUSTS WILL GENERATE LARGE WAVES WHICH WILL AFFECT THE COASTLINE
THROUGH THE DAY. HIGH SURF ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT WITH SURF
HEIGHTS REACHING 5 TO 7 FEET BY THIS AFTERNOON. MINOR COASTAL
FLOODING WAS REPORTED EARLY IN THE MORNING AT PINE ISLAND AND
OTHER COASTAL LOCATIONS ALONG HERNANDO COUNTY. STAY AWAY FROM
LOCATIONS ALONG THE SHORE IF FLOODING IS OCCURRING.

BEACHGOERS SHOULD AVOID EXPOSING THEMSELVES TO DANGEROUS
SITUATIONS. RIP CURRENT ARE ALSO EXPECTED TODAY. A RIP CURRENT IS
A 10 TO 30 YARD WIDE CHANNEL OF WATER THAT CAN PULL EVEN A STRONG
SWIMMER INTO DEEPER WATER. TO AVOID GETTING CAUGHT IN A RIP
CURRENT...SWIM AT GUARDED BEACHES AND HEED THE ADVICE OF THE BEACH
PATROL. AT UNGUARDED BEACHES AND NEAR PIERS...JETTIES...AND
INLETS...DO NOT GO INTO THE SURF MUCH ABOVE YOUR KNEES.

IF CAUGHT IN THE SEAWARD PULL OF A RIP CURRENT...DO NOT ATTEMPT
TO MOVE DIRECTLY TOWARD SHORE. INSTEAD...MOVE SIDEWAYS ACROSS THE
RIP CURRENT UNTIL THE PULL EASES. ANOTHER METHOD OF ESCAPE IS TO
LET THE RIP CURRENT PULL YOU SEAWARD 50 TO 100 YARDS...WHERE THE
FORCE WEAKENS. THEN...SWIM TOWARD THE BEACH AT AN ANGLE AWAY FROM
THE CURRENT.

SMALL CRAFT SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT UNTIL CONDITIONS IMPROVE.

TONIGHT A FREEZE WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTHERN COUNTIES OF
LEVY...CITRUS...SUMTER AND HERNANDO. MORNING LOW TEMPERATURES WILL
DROP AT OR BELOW FREEZING FOR 2 TO 3 HOURS MAINLY BEFORE SUNRISE.
RESIDENTS IN THIS COUNTIES...ESPECIALLY IN THE INTERIOR...SHOULD
COVER OR MOVE INDOORS ANY COLD SENSITIVE PLANTS LATER TODAY.
ALSO...BRING PETS INDOORS THIS EVENING.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

COLD TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT ARE EXPECTED ON SUNDAY. WINDS WILL
SUBSIDE BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON BUT A MORE DRY AIRMASS WILL MOVE INTO
THE REGION...BRINGING RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES WELL BELOW 35
PERCENT OVER MOST AREAS. A FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS IN EFFECT ON
SUNDAY AFTERNOON FOR ALL COUNTIES EXCEPT PINELLAS.

SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY CONTINUES UNTIL SUNDAY AFTERNOON. SMALL CRAFT
SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT UNTIL CONDITIONS IMPROVE.

FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK...NEXT SIGNIFICANT EVENT COMES WITH
ANOTHER COLD FRONT PASSAGE ON WEDNESDAY WHICH WILL BRING AN
INCREASE IN SHOWERS AND A POSSIBLE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM.
