AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEMPHIS TN 247 PM CDT MON MAY 29 2006 .DISCUSSION... SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER THE MIDSOUTH WITH DAYTIME HEATING...ESPECIALLY EAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND IN THE MISSOURI BOOTHEEL. THE FORECAST AREA IS SANDWICHED BETWEEN AN UPPER HIGH TO THE EAST AND A WEAK LOW TO THE SOUTHWEST. THE WEAK LOW HAS SPAWNED MANY MORE STORMS...ESPECIALLY OVER NORTHEASTERN LOUISIANA AND SOUTHEASTERN ARKANSAS. THE WEAK UPPER LOW WILL REMAIN TRAPPED OVER EAST TEXAS ON THE WESTERN EDGE OF THE UPPER HIGH OVER THE EASTERN U.S. THIS PESKY LOW WILL KEEP A MOISTURE AXIS FROM THE TEXAS GULF COAST TO THE GREAT LAKES...STRETCHED OVER THE WESTERN HALF OF THE FORECAST AREA. THUS THERE WILL BE VERY LITTLE VARIABILITY IN THE FORECAST FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. HOT AND HUMID WITH INCREASING CHANCES OF THUNDERSTORMS BEGINNING OVERNIGHT. THE FORECAST AREA WILL REMAIN UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF THE MOISTURE AXIS AND WEAK UPPER LOW THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. A SHORTWAVE WILL MOVE ACROSS THE NORTHERN PLAINS LATE WEDNESDAY AND INTO THE MIDWEST THURSDAY MORNING. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL ACCOMPANY A SLOW MOVING ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT THAT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REGION THROUGH FRIDAY. THE FRONT WILL HELP SCOUR OUT THE REMAINING RAIN LATE FRIDAY. NEXT WEEKEND APPEARS DRY AT THIS TIME.
