AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HASTINGS NE 500 AM CDT SUN APR 10 2005 .DISCUSSION...A RATHER COMPLEX SITUATION AGAIN SHAPING UP FOR TODAY. BIGGEST CONCERN WILL BE BOTH FLASH FLOOD THREAT AND SEVERE THREAT FOR TODAY. UPPER CLOSED LOW IS OVER THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS STILL AND IS STUBBORN TO EMERGE INTO THE HIGH PLAINS. SURFACE BOUNDARY ALSO TOOK AWHILE TO APPROACH THE CWA LAST NIGHT AND FAILED TO ENTER THE PICTURE SOON ENOUGH TO PRODUCE SEVERE WEATHER INSIDE THE CWA OVERNIGHT. HOWEVER...ODX DID RECEIVE A WIND GUST FROM OUTFLOW...A GUST TO 57 MPH. NO DAMAGE WAS REPORTED FROM THIS. STRONG LOW LEVEL MOISTURE CONVERGENCE WILL OCCUR ALONG THE FRONT DRAPED ACROSS OUR CWA TODAY. STRONG DIVERGENT FLOW ALOFT WITH COUPLE JET WILL LIKELY RESULT HEAVY RAINFALL TOTALS FOR PORTIONS OF THE CENTRAL AND NORTHERN PARTS OF OUR CWA TODAY. THE FRONT WILL BE DRAPED ACROSS THE CWA IN AN ORIENTATION ROUGHLY PARALLEL TO UPPER LEVEL FLOW. WITH PLENTY OF MOISTURE AVAILABLE I SEE A DEFINITE POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING PROBLEMS TODAY. AS FOR THE SEVERE THREAT...SINCE THERE IS A BOUNDARY DRAPED ACROSS THE CWA TODAY...THIS COULD MEAN TROUBLE CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST AREAS.
