SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF 

       SOUTHEAST COLORADO
       EASTERN NEW MEXICO

EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 150 PM UNTIL 900
PM MDT.

HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 70 STATUTE MILES
EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF PUEBLO
COLORADO TO 65 MILES EAST OF CORONA NEW MEXICO.

HOURS...WITH OTHER ISOLATED STORM DEVELOPMENT POSSIBLE ON A WEAK
TROUGH ACROSS THE PLAINS OF SE CO.  SURFACE TEMPERATURES OF 75-80 F
AND DEWPOINTS IN THE 50S OVER THE HIGH PLAINS ARE CONTRIBUTING TO
MLCAPE VALUES OF 1000-1500 J/KG...IN AN ENVIRONMENT OF 30-40 KT NWLY
MID LEVEL FLOW AND SUFFICIENT VERTICAL SHEAR FOR SUPERCELLS.  THE
MAIN SEVERE THREAT WILL BE LARGE HAIL...WITH ISOLATED DAMAGING GUSTS
ALSO POSSIBLE WITH S MOVING SUPERCELLS THROUGH THE LATE EVENING
