AREAS AFFECTED...SW TX INCLUDING THE DAVIES MOUNTAINS SND SRN
TRANSPECOS REGION

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL

VALID 041823Z - 042030Z

STORMS EXPECTED TO INTENSIFY THIS AFTERNOON OVER THE DAVIS MOUNTAINS
AND SRN PORTIONS OF THE TRANSPECOS REGION. LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING
WIND GUSTS WILL BE THE PRIMARY THREATS. AREA WILL CONTINUE TO BE
MONITORED FOR POSSIBLE WW.

THIS AFTERNOON AN OUTFLOW BOUNDARY WITH ONGOING CONVECTION EXTENDS
FROM NEAR MIDLAND SWWD TO NEAR MARFA. A QUASISTATIONARY FRONT
EXTENDS FROM N OF DEL RIO...NWWD TO NEAR FORT STOCKTON WHERE IT
INTERSECTS THE OUTFLOW BOUNDARY. LOW LEVEL MOISTURE WITH SURFACE
DEWPOINTS IN THE 50S PERSIST E OF THE OUTFLOW BOUNDARY AND S OF THE
FRONT. BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS OVER THE MOUNTAINS AND STEEP LAPSE RATES
WILL CONTRIBUTE TO DESTABILIZATION IN THIS AREA WITH MLCAPE FROM 500
TO 1000 J/KG EXPECTED. SHORT TERM TRENDS HAVE BEEN FOR STORMS ALONG
THE OUTFLOW BOUNDARY TO DECREASE. ADDITIONAL STORMS MAY DEVELOP AND
INTENSIFY ALONG THIS BOUNDARY AS DOWNSTREAM ATMOSPHERE DESTABILIZES.
OTHER STORMS WILL LIKELY INCREASE OVER THE MOUNTAINS AS SURFACE
HEATING ENHANCES OROGRAPHIC FORCING AND AS TAIL END OF VORT MAX
