MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0178
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK

AREAS AFFECTED...MS...NW AL...FAR SCNTRL TN

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 27...

VALID 060308Z - 060515Z

SUPERCELLS ARE ONGOING ACROSS NERN MS...NWRN AL AND FAR SCNTRL TN.
AN ISOLATED TORNADO THREAT WILL CONTINUE TO ACCOMPANY THE STORMS
ACROSS THE NORTHERN PART OF TORNADO WATCH 27. CONVECTION IS
CURRENTLY DEVELOPING ACROSS THE SRN PART OF THE WATCH AND MAY POSE A
SEVERE THREAT WITHIN THE NEXT HOUR OR TWO. IF THE STRENGTH OF THE
CONVECTION REMAINS STRONG OVER THE NEXT TWO HOURS...ANOTHER WATCH
MAY BE NEEDED.

A NEARLY STATIONARY BOUNDARY IS CURRENTLY LOCATED FROM FAR SWRN MS
EXTENDING NEWD TO FAR NRN AL. STRONG LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE ALONG THE
BOUNDARY SHOULD WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT SUPERCELLS IN THE NRN PART
OF THE TORNADO WATCH EVEN THOUGH INSTABILITY HAS DECREASED THERE
SOMEWHAT. AS INSTABILITY DECREASES...A DOWNWARD TREND IN THE
CONVECTION SHOULD BEGIN.

FARTHER SOUTH ACROSS SRN MS...INSTABILITY HAS REMAINED STEADY AND
MODERATE LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE CONTINUED. THIS MAY RESULT IN THE
DEVELOPMENT OF ADDITIONAL SUPERCELL STORMS OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS
IN THE SRN PART OF THE TORNADO WATCH.
