THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SALT LAKE CITY HAS EXPANDED THE 

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTH CENTRAL GARFIELD COUNTY IN UTAH
  KANE COUNTY IN UTAH
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF KANAB
  WASHINGTON COUNTY IN UTAH
  THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF ST. GEORGE

* UNTIL 1100 PM MDT

* AT 140 PM MDT...WIDESPREAD FLASH FLOODING WAS OCCURRING 
  OVER THE WARNED AREA.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO   
HENRIEVILLE...ZION NATIONAL PARK AND THE GRAND STAIRCASE ESCALANTE 
NATIONAL MONUMENT.

THIS WARNING NOW COVERS ALL OF WASHINGTON COUNTY...THE WESTERN 
TWO-THIRDS OF KANE COUNTY INCLUDING THE PARIA RIVER DRAINAGE... AND 
THE ESCALANTE RIVER DRAINAGE IN GARFIELD AND KANE COUNTIES.

HEAVY RAINS HAVE SPREAD BACK INTO THESE AREAS THIS AFTERNOON AND 
WILL CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING. THIS RAIN IS FALLING ON GROUND 
ALREADY SATURATED FROM THE HEAVY RAINS OF THE LAST TWO DAYS AND WILL 
CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF NUMEROUS SMALL DRAINAGES AND NORMALLY DRY 
WASHES. 

IN ADDITION...FLASH FLOODING WILL DEVELOP ON THE PARIA AND ESCALANTE 
RIVERS...AND THEIR TRIBUTARIES. 

ADDITIONALLY...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES...COUNTRY ROADS AND 
FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS...STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING 
AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLOODING.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING.
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY.
RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATERS OR WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY
AUTOMOBILE.
