AREAS AFFECTED...SOUTH TX

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL

VALID 111944Z - 112245Z

VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGERY AND SFC ANALYSIS INDICATED A SFC LOW JUST
SOUTH OF DEL RIO. A MODERATELY UNSTABLE AIRMASS EXISTED JUST ESE OF
THE LOW...WITH MLCAPES FROM 1500-2500 J/KG. MODIFIED 12Z DRT
SOUNDING FOR 19Z SFC OBS AT HDO...SUGGESTS STILL AROUND 50-100 J/KG
OF INHIBITION REMAINS. 850 MB WINDS HAVE ALREADY BECOME ELY ON
REGIONAL VWP/S. THUS LOW LEVEL MOISTURE ADVECTION INCREASING INTO
THE MIDDLE RIO GRANDE RIVER VALLEY WOULD SUSTAIN ANY CONVECTION THAT
CAN DEVELOP. MID LEVEL FLOW REMAINS SOMEWHAT WEAK /25-30 KTS/ BUT
LOW LEVEL ELY WINDS WILL ALLOW FOR SUFFICIENT SHEAR FOR SUPERCELL
THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT. THE LOCALIZED NATURE OF THE SEVERE
THREAT DUE TO SLOW STORM MOTIONS /LESS THAN 10 KTS/ WILL PRECLUDE
THE NEED FOR A WATCH.
