AREAS AFFECTED...INTERIOR SRN NEW ENGLAND...SERN NY...ERN PA...AND
NJ

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL

VALID 021643Z - 021845Z

THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE EARLY THIS AFTERNOON
ACROSS THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY...NJ...AND ERN PA. ISOLATED STORMS
ARE ALSO POSSIBLE ACROSS SRN NY. THREAT OF DAMAGING WINDS/HAIL MAY
NECESSITATE A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IN THE NEXT HOUR OR SO.

AT 16Z...A SURFACE FRONT EXTENDED FROM SWRN VT SWWD TO 20 E BGM.
INSOLATIONAL HEATING CONTINUES BETWEEN FRONTAL CLOUD BAND AND HIGH
CLOUDS ASSOCIATED WITH CYCLONE EAST OF CAPE HATTERAS. SURFACE
TEMPERATURES AWAY FROM THE COAST HAVE WARMED INTO THE MID TO UPPER
70S ACROSS THE LOWER HUDSON VALLEY...NJ...AND ERN PA. THIS REGION IS
COLOCATED WITH A LOW-LEVEL MOIST AXIS WITH SFC DEWPOINTS IN THE LOW
60S. SBCAPE VALUES OF 1000-1500 J/KG AND MINIMAL CONVECTIVE
INHIBITION SHOULD ALLOW THUNDERSTORMS TO DEVELOP AND INCREASE AND
COVERAGE/INTENSITY AHEAD AND ALONG EWD ADVANCING COLD FRONT. DEEP
LAYER SHEAR VALUES OF 20-30 KT THIS AFTERNOON IS MARGINALLY
FAVORABLE FOR ORGANIZED STORMS. A CONVECTIVE LINE APPEARS LIKELY
ALONG THE FRONT...WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR LOCALIZED DAMAGING WINDS.
ISOLATED CELLS IN ADVANCE OF THIS FEATURE IS ALSO POSSIBLE WITH HAIL
AND DAMAGING WINDS POSSIBLE WITH STRONGER CORES. STORMS WILL TRACK
GENERALLY ENEWD AT 20-25KT.
