CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL

CONVECTION WAS DEVELOPING IN ERN NM AND WILL MOVE EWD INTO THE TX
PANHANDLE AND INTO THE SOUTH PLAINS OVER THE NEXT FEW HOURS. THE
CELLS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL FOR ISOLATED HAIL AND/OR DAMAGING WIND
GUSTS. A WW MAY BE NEEDED WITHIN THE NEXT FEW HOURS.

CONVECTION WAS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING ON THE W EDGE OF THE CAPROCK TO
THE E OF THE DRYLINE IN AN AREA OF LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE. AS THE
CONVECTION MOVES EWD AWAY FROM THE DRYLINE...IT WILL ENCOUNTER SFC
DEWPOINTS IN THE LOWER 50S F. SFC TEMPS FROM 75 TO 85 F ACROSS W TX
WERE RESULTING IN A MODERATELY UNSTABLE AIR MASS WITH MLCAPE VALUES
OF 1500-2000 J/KG. DEEP LAYER SHEAR WAS FAIRLY WEAK WITH 0-6 KM
SHEAR VALUES OF 30-35 KT IN THIS REGION SUGGESTING STORMS WILL
REMAIN MULTICELLULAR. HOWEVER...STEEP LOW TO MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES
SHOULD PROMOTE A HAIL POTENTIAL. ALSO...LARGE LOW-LEVEL TEMP-DEWP
SPREADS MAY ALLOW FOR A FEW DAMAGING WIND GUSTS. A WW IS POSSIBLE
