MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0548
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0547 PM CDT WED APR 23 2003

AREAS AFFECTED...WESTERN/NORTHWESTERN OK

CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 147...

VALID 232247Z - 240015Z

SCATTERED SEVERE TSTM ACTIVITY CONTINUES TO AFFECT PORTIONS OF WW
#147 IN WRN/NWRN OK. WW #147 WILL CONTINUE TO REMAIN IN EFFECT THRU
EXPIRATION...ALTHOUGH LACK OF INSTABILITY SHOULD LIMIT THE OVERALL
SEVERE THREAT.

MOST RECENT SFC ANALYSIS SUGGESTS THE DRYLINE HAS SURGED TO JUST
WEST OF AN ALVA-CLINTON LINE ACROSS MUCH OF WRN OK. SURFACE DEWPOINT
/ TEMPERATURE VALUES TO THE EAST OF THIS LINE ARE GENERALLY IN THE
UPPER 50S/LOW 60S YIELDING MUCAPES GENERALLY BETWEEN 500-1000 J/KG
IN THE REGION.

EXPECT ISOLATED SEVERE ACTIVITY TO AFFECT PARTS OF THE WW THRU
EXPIRATION. A WEDGE OF CLEARING IS NOTICEABLE ON VISIBLE IN THE
MOIST AXIS JUST TO THE EAST OF AFOREMENTIONED DRYLINE ACTIVITY WHICH
SHOULD ALLOW SOME ADDITIONAL DESTABILIZATION OVER THE NEXT HOUR.
THIS COULD LEAD TO A TEMPORARY INCREASE IN THE INTENSITY OF SOME OF
THIS ACTIVITY...WITH THE MAIN THREATS LARGE HAIL AND LOCALLY
DAMAGING WINDS. HOWEVER...EXPECT AN OVERALL DOWNWARD TREND IN
CONVECTIVE INTENSITY THRU THE 24/00Z EXPIRATION AS STORMS MOVE INTO
CLOUDY / RAIN-COOLED AIRMASS IN PLACE ACROSS CENTRAL OK.
