The nearest sounding before it

Amarillo Airport, TX (KAMA), launched 00:00Z, 4.4 hours before the alert went out and 223 km from the middle of its area. This is the routine balloon launch nearest before it, the air the forecaster had in hand, not a measurement taken for the alert.

AREAS AFFECTED...NWRN TX

CONCERNING...TORNADO WATCH 94...

VALID 060426Z - 060530Z

IF STORMS CAN DEVELOP WITHIN WW 94...PARAMETERS REMAIN FAVORABLE
FOR SUPERCELLS OVER THIS REGION AS THE AIR MASS CONTINUES TO
DESTABILIZE.

LATEST SURFACE MESO-ANALYSIS AND OBJECTIVE ANALYSES SHOW THE WARM
FRONT CONTINUES TO LIFT SLOWLY NWD THROUGH NWRN TX...WITH THE
WARM FRONT/DRY LINE INTERSECTION IN THE VICINITY OF GARZA COUNTY.
THE DRY LINE EXTENDS SWD THROUGH WRN TX TO SJT TO THE TX BIG
BEND AREA. AIR MASS IN THE WARM SECTOR REMAINS MODERATELY
UNSTABLE. WIND FIELDS CONTINUE TO INCREASE OVER WRN/NWRN TX AS
AN UPPER SHORT WAVE TROUGH APPROACHES THE SRN HIGH
PLAINS...RESULTING IN SUFFICIENT DEEP LAYER SHEAR FOR SUPERCELLS.
HOWEVER...LATEST MODELS SUGGEST THAT STORMS WILL NOT DEVELOP
UNTIL LATE TONIGHT /TOWARD 12Z/ AS LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE
INCREASES IN THE VICINITY OF A SURFACE LOW BETWEEN LBB-CDS AND
THE DRY LINE BEGINS TO SURGE EWD.

LOW-LEVEL MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD NWWD INTO WW 94 AS
LOW-LEVEL SSELY WINDS STRENGTHEN...AND SUBSEQUENTLY DESTABILIZE
THE AIR MASS FURTHER NWWD INTO NWRN TX. IF STORMS CAN DEVELOP
WITHIN THIS ENVIRONMENT...THEN SUPERCELLS WILL BE LIKELY...GIVEN
STRONG DEEP LAYER SHEAR.
