CONCERNING...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL...HEAVY RAINFALL

SCATTERED CONVECTION DEVELOPING IN THE BLACK HILLS AND ACROSS NWRN
NEB WILL HAVE A POTENTIAL FOR VERY HEAVY RAIN AND HAIL. WW IS NOT
ANTICIPATED ATTM.

AMPLIFIED UPPER TROUGH AND ASSOCIATED COLD POOL IS MOVING EWD ACROSS
THE HIGH PLAINS. SFC HEATING AND LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE HAS HELPED
INITIATE CONVECTION NEAR RAPID CITY SD AND CHADRON NEB. THE
CONVECTION WILL BE SUSTAINED IN AN AREA OF LARGE-SCALE ASCENT AND
SHOULD ROTATE SLOWLY SEWD AROUND THE CENTER OF THE UPPER-TROUGH.
LIFTED INDICES WHERE -2 TO -4 WITH 500 MB TEMPS AROUND -10 C. THIS
ALONG WITH STEEP LAPSE RATES WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR HAIL WITH THE
STRONGER UPDRAFTS. WEAK FLOW AROUND THE CENTER OF THE UPPER-TROUGH
WILL RESULT IN SLOW STORM MOTIONS AND A POTENTIAL FOR VERY HEAVY
RAIN ESPECIALLY WHERE CELLS TRAIN.
