* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  MONTGOMERY COUNTY IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA

* UNTIL 230 AM EDT

* AT 1235 AM EDT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER MONTGOMERY COUNTY.

* SLOW MOVING THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE FLOODING AROUND...
  TROY.
  STEEDS.
  STAR.
  ELDORADO.
  BISCOE.
  BADIN LAKE.

RADAR INDICATED THAT 2 TO 2.5 INCHES OF RAIN HAD OCCURRED BETWEEN
1130 PM AND 1230 AM OVER NORTHERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY. ADDITIONAL 
THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION FROM THE SOUTHWEST... 
PRODUCING FLASH FLOODING. 

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.  VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING 
WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED.

...A FLASH FLOOD WARNING CONTINUES IN EFFECT FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY 
THROUGH 230 AM...

AT 103 AM EDT DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUOUSLY 
REDEVELOPING FROM TROY AND BADIN LAKE NORTHEAST THROUGH SEAGROVE
TO ASHEBORO AND RAMSEUR. RADAR ESTIMATES INDICATE THAT 2 TO LOCALLY 
4 INCHES OF RAIN HAS OCCURED FROM JUST NORTHWEST OF TROY TO BADIN
LAKE IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY... AND THROUGHOUT MUCH OF SOUTHERN
AND EASTERN RANDOLPH COUNTY FROM MARTHA TO ASHEBORO AND RAMSEUR.

AT 103 AM... THUNDERSTORMS CONTINUED TO DUMP VERY HEAVY RAIN 
CENTERED OVER NORTHERN MONTGOMERY COUNTY BETWEEN NC 109 AND US 
220... JUST NORTH OF TROY. THESE STORMS EXTENDED INTO MUCH OF 
RANDOLPH COUNTY. 

OFFICIALS IN BOTH COUNTIES REPORT THAT NUMEROUS ROADS ARE FLOODED 
WITH STREAMS AND CREEKS OUT OF THEIR BANKS. 

LOCATIONS THREATENED WITH CONTINUED FLASH FLOODING INCLUDE... 
TROY... ASHEBORO... RAMSEUR AND SEAGROVE. RURAL AREAS IN BETWEEN
THESE TOWNS WILL SEE FLASH FLOODING AS WELL. 

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES AT NIGHT. NEVER DRIVE YOUR 
VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. YOU WILL NOT
BE ABLE TO ESTIMATE THE DEPTH.
