Did it verify

Not verified. The Iowa Environmental Mesonet's Cow found no qualifying storm report inside this severe thunderstorm warning while it was in force. That is not proof nothing happened: reports are thin where few people live.

Cow counts a report within 15 km of the polygon while the warning was in force: a tornado for a tornado warning; hail of 1 inch or more, a gust of 58 mph or more or wind damage for a severe thunderstorm warning; a flash flood report for a flash flood warning.

SOUTHWEST ARIZONA/SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PHOENIX AZ
245 PM MST SUN AUG 31 2003

.SYNOPSIS...
AN UPPER LEVEL HIGH PRESSURE AREA WILL MOVE ACROSS ARIZONA TO NEAR
THE FOUR CORNERS BY LABOR DAY. AT THE SAME TIME...AN UPPER LEVEL LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE TOWARDS SOUTHWEST ARIZONA. AS THIS FEATURE
APPROACHES THE STATE...AND THE HIGH TO OUR NORTH FEEDS ADDED MOISTURE
INTO THE REGION...THE THREAT FOR AFTERNOON AND EVENING SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE ON THE RISE...MAINLY LABOR DAY INTO WEDNESDAY.
THUNDERSTORM THREATS WILL DIMINISH ONCE AGAIN ACROSS FAR SOUTHWEST
ARIZONA AND SOUTHEAST CALIFORNIA TOWARDS THE END OF THE WEEK. NO
LARGE DAY-TO-DAY VARIATION IN TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED THIS WEEK.

.DISCUSSION...
WITH THE CONTINUED LOW LEVEL MOIST AIR AND AFTERNOON HEATING...A FEW
THUNDERSTORMS HAVE DEVELOPED OVER AND NEAR THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF
SOUTH CENTRAL AZ THIS AFTERNOON. THESE STORMS WILL BE DIMINISHING
WITH SUNSET. UPPER HIGH WHICH WAS CENTERED OFF THE SOUTHERN CA COAST
HAS MOVED OVER SOUTHERN CA BY THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL BE ENTERING AZ
TONIGHT. THIS WILL BRING THE REGION A MOSTLY CLEAR NIGHT TONIGHT.
THE UPPER HIGH WILL CONTINUE TO TRACK TO THE NE AND INTO NORTHERN
AZ/4 CORNERS AREA BY MON AFTERNOON AND REMAIN THERE THROUGHOUT MUCH
OF THE WEEK. THIS WILL BRING AN E-SE FLOW BACK TO THE AREA WHICH
WILL BEGIN TO IMPORT A BIT MORE MOISTURE TO THE ALREADY MOIST LOWER
LEVELS WHICH HAS REMAINED OVER THE REGION FOR THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS.
HOWEVER MODELS SHOW THE MAIN FETCH OF THIS ADDED MOISTURE TO BE
ADVECTED INTO SW AZ AND SE CA MON/TUES. AT THE SAME TIME A VORTMAX
ROTATES AROUND THE UPPER HIGH UP THROUGH THE LOWER CO RIVER VALLEY
WHICH WILL PROVIDE DYNAMICS TO THE MOIST AIRMASS RESULTING IN A
SLIGHT CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS FOR SE CA EASTWARD THROUGH SOUTH
CENTRAL AZ MON AND TUES THEN THE SLIGHT CHANCE CONTINUING THROUGH
MID WEEK WITH ITS RESIDUAL MOISTURE. THIS DISTURBANCE WILL ROTATE
OVER THE TOP OF THE HIGH THROUGH ID WY FLATTENING THE RIDGE A BIT
CAUSING A DRIER SW FLOW INTO SE CA AND SW AZ RESULTING IN PARTLY
CLOUDY DAYS ON FRI AND INTO THE WEEKEND. A MOIST AIRMASS AND THE E
TO NE FLOW ALOFT WILL KEEP A CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTH
CENTRAL AZ THROUGHOUT MID AND LATE WEEK AND INTO THE WEEKEND.
TEMPS WILL LOWER JUST A DEG OR TWO EARLY IN THE WEEK AS A LITTLE
MORE MOISTURE ENTERS THEN WILL LEVEL OUT. DKS
