1215 PM CDT MON JUL 21 2003

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT THIS AFTERNOON FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL
AND SOUTHERN ARKANSAS. WHILE CLOUDS AND SCATTERED PRECIPITATION WILL
BE NOTED DURING THE EARLY PART OF THE AFTERNOON...CLEARING WILL
OCCUR FROM THE NORTH AS THE AFTERNOON PROGRESSES. THIS WILL ALLOW
TEMPERATURES TO CLIMB INTO THE LOWER AND MID 90S. WITH HIGH HUMIDITY
VALUES...HEAT INDICES OF 105 TO 110 DEGREES ARE POSSIBLE THIS
AFTERNOON. ELSEWHERE...AFTERNOON HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL RANGE FROM
100 TO 105 DEGREES.

THE EASTERN HALF OF ARKANSAS IS UNDER A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS TODAY AND TONIGHT. THUNDERSTORMS WERE BEGINNING TO POP
UP FROM CENTRAL INTO WESTERN TENNESSEE EARLY THIS AFTERNOON...AND
SOME OF THESE STORMS MAY BUILD INTO EASTERN ARKANSAS. SHOULD THE
STORMS BECOME SEVERE...THEY COULD PRODUCE LARGE HAIL AND STRONG TO
DAMAGING WINDS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE INTO ARKANSAS FROM THE NORTH BY THIS EVENING.
A SYSTEM ALOFT WILL ARRIVE FROM MISSOURI BY TUESDAY MORNING...AND
WILL INTERACT WITH THE FRONT. THE RESULT MAY BE SCATTERED TO
NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS...WITH SOME STORMS POSSIBLY SEVERE. THE MAIN
CONCERNS WITH THE STORMS ARE DAMAGING WINDS AND LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL. THE FRONT WILL MOVE SOUTH OF THE STATE TUESDAY
NIGHT...WITH RAIN CHANCES ENDING FROM NORTH TO SOUTH.

THE REST OF THE WEEK LOOKS TO BE QUITE PLEASANT WITH COOLER AND
DRIER AIR FOLLOWING THE COLD FRONT. THE MOST NOTICEABLE CHANGE WILL
BE LOWER HUMIDITY LEVELS.
