SOUTHEAST TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX 217 PM CDT SUN SEP 14 2003 BIT OF A DIFFICULT FORECAST. THE MODELS DID NOT SEEM TO INITIALIZE VERY WELL...HOWEVER THE GFS AND MESO-ETA SEEMED TO RECOVER WELL. LIKED THE GFS FOR THE FORECAST GIVEN ITS RECENT HISTORY. THE MODEL SUGGESTS THAT EVEN THOUGH HIGH PRESSURE WILL RIDGE OVER THE 850 AND 700 MB TROUGHS...THESE FEATURES STAY IN PLACE TO THE NORTH OF SE TX INTO LATE TUESDAY. BECAUSE OF THIS...A FEW MORE CLOUDS WILL LINGER OVER AREA THROUGH MONDAY. AS THE MOS SUGGESTS...A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR RAIN SHOULD LINGER OVER THE SOUTHWESTERN COUNTIES DUE TO SOME ISENTROPIC LIFT EVEN THOUGH THE WEAK FRONT WILL MOVE SOUTHWARD. THE NEXT FRONT WILL ARRIVE LATE THURSDAY OR EARLY FRIDAY. IN THE SOUTHWESTERN COUNTIES WILL KEEP THE SCATTERED POPS IN PLACE TONIGHT...THEN 20 PERCENT MONDAY. EVEN THOUGH THE GFS KEEPS HIGHER PW VALUES IN PLACE THERE INTO TUESDAY NIGHT...THE APPROACHING HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE SHOULD HELP SQUASH THE RAIN CHANCES MID WEEK.
