THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN SAN ANTONIO HAS ISSUED A
* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
ATASCOSA
* UNTIL 615 AM CDT
* AT 214 AM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LARGE AREA
OF MODERATE TO VERY HEAVY RAIN MOVING ACROSS ALL OF ATASCOSA
COUNTY. THIS AREA OF RAIN IS MOVING GENERALLY NORTH AT 20 MPH.
THIS AREA OF RAIN IS HAS BEEN PRODUCING RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2
INCHES PER HOUR...AND AREAS OF THE RIO GRANDE PLAINS ARE RECEIVING
3-HOUR RAINFALL TOTALS UP TO 5 INCHES. THESE HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS
WILL CREATE SERIOUS RUNOFF PROBLEMS OVER THE SATURATED SOILS OF
ATASCOSA COUNTY.
EXPECT FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...COUNTRY ROADS...
NORMALLY DRY WASHES AND ARROYOS...AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE
BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT
IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF
FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO
ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO FLOODING WHEN
WATER BEGINS RISING.
