THE STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST KANSAS                             

EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 300 PM UNTIL 800
PM CDT.

HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 60
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 55 STATUTE MILES
EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 50 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF WICHITA
KANSAS TO MANHATTAN KANSAS.

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH AREA.

ACROSS CENTRAL KS AS THE COLD FRONT OVERTAKES THE DRYLINE.  A
NARROW AXIS OF MODERATE INSTABILITY E OF THE FRONT SHOULD BE
SUFFICIENT FOR A FEW SEVERE STORMS WITH LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED
DAMAGING GUSTS.

AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
TO 2 INCHES.  EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 50
KNOTS.  A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 450.  MEAN STORM
