SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

WESTERN AND NORTHWESTERN IOWA                               
EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN MINNESOTA                          
NORTHEASTERN NEBRASKA                           
SOUTHEASTERN SOUTH DAKOTA                       

EFFECTIVE THIS MONDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 500 PM UNTIL 1000
PM CDT.

HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 50 STATUTE MILES
EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 10 MILES NORTH OF BROOKINGS SOUTH
DAKOTA TO 50 MILES EAST OF COLUMBUS NEBRASKA.

SE SD IN A REGION OF PRONOUNCED LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE/WAA.  GIVEN
THE FEED OF NEAR 60 DEW POINTS AND MODERATE INSTABILITY FROM THE SW
IN NEB...EXPECT A THREAT OF SEVERE STORMS WITH LARGE HAIL AND
POSSIBLY DAMAGING WINDS TO PERSIST FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS.


AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
TO 2 INCHES.  EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND GUSTS TO 60
