WEST CENTRAL TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAN ANGELO TX 308 PM CDT TUE JUN 4 2002 SHOWERS AND STORMS CONTINUE TO DEVELOP ACROSS THE SOUTH PLAINS AND PANHANDLE THIS AFTERNOON...AS UPPER LOW SPINS TOWARD THE SOUTHERN PLAINS. SOME ACTIVITY ALSO DEVELOPING ACROSS THE NORTHWEST BIG COUNTRY. MOST ACTIVITY DEVELOPING IN THE UPPER DIVERGENCE AREA AND ALONG A COLD FRONT STRETCHING FROM NEAR KLBB TO KOKC. CONSIDERING ITS LOOK ON SATELLITE...STILL NOT SURE MODELS ARE DOING JUSTICE TO THIS SYSTEM...WITH MODELS WEAKENING IT AS IT MOVES EAST. AT THE SURFACE...COLD FRONT SHOULD CONTINUE ITS SOUTHWARD MOVEMENT. MODELS PUSH THE FRONT INTO THE BIG COUNTRY BY MIDNIGHT...AND APPROACH THE CENTRAL SECTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS AROUND SUNRISE. AREAS NORTH OF THE FRONT LOOK EXCELLENT FOR RAIN...AS NOSE OF THE LOW LEVEL JET OVERRUNS THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND THE UPPER DIVERGENCE WITH THE UPPER LOW COINCIDE AS WELL. WILL INCREASE POPS FOR TONIGHT ACROSS THE BOARD. FINALLY...GIVEN THE HIGH MOISTURE CONTENT...850 MB DEWPOINT AT KMAF THIS MORNING WAS 20 WITH PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES PUSHING 200 PERCENT OF NORMAL...WILL MENTION LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL. FRONT PUSHES THROUGH THE REST OF THE AREA WEDNESDAY MORNING...LEAVING A COOLER DAY AS LOTS OF CLOUDS CONTINUE. MOST OF THE RAIN GRADUALLY SHIFTS INTO THE SOUTHERN COUNTIES DURING THE DAY AND ESPECIALLY WEDNESDAY NIGHT...AS A WEAKER SHORTWAVE ROUNDS THE BASE OF THE TROUGH AND EJECTS ACROSS MAINLY THE SOUTHERN ZONES. CLOUDS DECREASE FOR THURSDAY...WITH MORE SUN AND SLIGHTLY WARMER CONDITIONS. EXTENDED WISE...UPPER RIDGE BUILDS BACK INTO THE AREA FOR THE FIRST PART OF THE WEEKEND...BUT BY SUNDAY THE MRF SHOWS AN UPPER TROUGH PASSING WELL TO THE NORTH DRIVING ANOTHER COLD FRONT INTO THE AREA.
