THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MORRISTOWN HAS ISSUED A
* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
CAMPBELL COUNTY IN EAST TENNESSEE
SCOTT COUNTY IN EAST TENNESSEE
* UNTIL 315 PM EST
* AT 1205 PM EST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN OVER MUCH OF CAMPBELL AND SCOTT COUNTIES IN
EAST TENNESSEE. THE AREA OF RAIN PRODUCING THE FLASH FLOOD WAS
MOVING NORTHEAST AT 20 MPH.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR HAS ESTIMATED THAT 3 TO 4
INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN OVER THE PAST 12 HOURS. AN ADDITIONAL 1
TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN ARE EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 3 HOURS.
AT 1210 PM EST LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT REPORTED MANY WATER COVERED
ROADS AND SOME CREEKS NEARING AT OR NEAR BANKFULL IN THE WARNING
AREA. THESE TYPES OF CONDITIONS WILL GET WORSE THROUGH
MID-AFTERNOON AS THE RAIN THAT HAS ALREADY FALLEN HEADS INTO
ESTABLISHED CREEKS AND RIVERS.
MOST FLASH FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
BRIDGES...DIPS...OR OTHER LOW SPOTS IF WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO
ESCAPE RISING WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.
