THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ST LOUIS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  LEWIS COUNTY IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI
  SHELBY COUNTY IN NORTHEAST MISSOURI

* UNTIL 700 AM CDT

* AT 1259 AM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE
OF THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN EXTENDING FROM KIRKSVILLE
TO BROOKFIELD AND ON TO THE SOUTHWEST TO 40 MILES EAST OF ST JOSEPH. 
THIS LINE OF STORMS WAS MOVING TO THE EAST NORTHEAST AT 40 MPH...ONE
FOLLOWING ANOTHER.

KIRKSVILLE REPORTED 1.45 INCHES OF RAIN BETWEEN MIDNIGHT AND 1:00 AM
AND 4.02 INCHES OF RAINFALL SINCE 7:00 PM. HEAVY RAINS HAVE BEEN 
FALLING IN KNOX COUNTY SATURDAY EVENING. THE BAND OF HEAVY RAINFALL 
WILL SAG
FURTHER SOUTH INTO LEWIS AND SHELBY COUNTIES BEGINNING AROUND 2:00 
AM WITH VERY INTENSE RAINFALL BETWEEN 3:00 AM AND 7:00 AM.  

YOU CAN EXPECT 2 TO LOCALLY 5 INCHES OF RAINFALL OVERNIGHT WITH
SERIOUS FLOODING DUE TO SATURATED SOILS. 

SHARP RISES CAN BE EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 12 HOURS ON THE NORTH 
FABIUS...MIDDLE FABIUS...SOUTH FABIUS...NORTH...AND THE FORK RIVERS.

PERSONS LIVING IN OR NEAR LOW WATER AREAS SHOULD PREPARE TO 
EVACUATE.

IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR IMMINENT...MOVE QUICKLY TO HIGHER
GROUND. NEVER DRIVE INTO AN AREA WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. ACT QUICKLY IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED. MOVE
TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT
TO FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
