* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  LINCOLN COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI
  ST. CHARLES COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI
  WARREN COUNTY IN EAST CENTRAL MISSOURI
  CALHOUN COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS
  GREENE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS
  JERSEY COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS
  MACOUPIN COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST ILLINOIS

* AT 445 AM CDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF  
THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN EXTENDING FROM SPRINGFIELD 
ILLINOIS SOUTHWEST TO HERMANN...ABOUT 40 MILES WEST OF ST LOUIS. THIS
LINE OF STORMS HAS INTENSIFIED SINCE 330 AM AND INDIVIDUAL STORMS
ARE FOLLOWING ONE ANOTHER ACROSS THE SAME AREA. 

TORRENTIAL RAINFALL WILL OCCUR IN THESE AREAS. RAINFALL AMOUNTS COULD
REACH 2 TO 3 OR POSSIBLY LOCALLY 4 INCHES. THE GROUND IS ALREADY 
SATURATED AND CAN NO LONGER RETAIN ANY WATER...THEREFORE ANY RAIN
THAT FALLS WILL ALL RUNOFF. 

LOOK FOR RAPID RISES IN RIVERS...STREAMS...AND TRIBUTARIES AS WELL
AS RAPID PONDING OR FLOODING OF DITCHES AND ROAD SURFACES IN METRO
AREAS AND COMMUNITIES. 

IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR IMMINENT...MOVE QUICKLY TO HIGHER 
GROUND. NEVER DRIVE INTO AN AREA WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROAD.

MOST PEOPLE ARE KILLED BY NIGHTTIME FLOODING...TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO
STAY AWAY FROM LOW LYING AREAS.
