LETCHER COUNTY * UNTIL 500 PM EDT * AT 257 PM EDT...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER CENTRAL LETCHER COUNTY NEAR WHITESBURG. THE STORMS WERE MOVING SLOWLY NORTH. * THE THUNDERSTORM WITH EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL AFFFECT CENTRAL AND EASTERN LETCHER COUNTY THROUGH 4 PM EDT. RADAR ESTIMATES THAT UP TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN AREAS SOUTHWEST OF WHITESBURG BETWEEN 2 AND 3 PM EDT. UP TO ANOTHER 2 INCHES OF RAIN IS POSSIBLE BETWEEN 3 AND 4 PM EDT.
