000 WGUS54 KEWX 011136 FFWSAT TXC029-011430- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO TX 633 AM CDT MON JUL 1 2002 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN AUSTIN SAN ANTONIO HAS EXTENDED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES... BEXAR * UNTIL 930 AM CDT * AT 629 AM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED WIDESPREAD RAIN OVER THE COUNTY WITH ESTIMATED RAINFALL RATES OF ONE HALF INCH AN HOUR. 1 TO 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAVE FALLEN OVER THE COUNTY SINCE 4 AM THIS MORNING WITH HIGHER TOTALS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES POSSIBLE FROM JUST EAST OF DOWNTOWN SAN ANTONIO TO LAKE CALAVERAS. RUNOFF FROM THESE RAINS WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...HIGHWAYS AND UNDERPASSES. ADDITIONALLY...COUNTRY ROADS AND FARMLANDS ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS AND OTHER LOW LYING AREAS ARE SUBJECT TO FLASH FLOODING. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY.
