AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BINGHAMTON NY 315 PM EDT THU AUG 22 2002 SO FAR MOST INTERESTING CONVECTION OCCURRED EARLY THIS AFTERNOON ALONG THE LAKE ONTARIO SHORELINE. ECHOES WERE BOWING IN REGION OF MID LVL SPEED MAX BUT AGAIN INSTABILITY WAS LACKING AND WEAKENED QUICKLY IN RAIN COOLED AIR. ANOTHER CLUSTER HAS JUST STARTED OVER WESTERN NY IN THE WESTERN SRN TIER AND WILL NEED WATCHING. FROPA AT BGM AROUND 00Z FRI THEN THROUGH FAR SE ZONES BY 06Z. WILL GO LIKELY POPS WRN/NRN ZONES EARLY THIS EVENING AND CAT UNTIL MIDNIGHT REST OF FA. BEHIND FRONT AIRMASS WILL DRY TOWARDS MORNING WITH SOME CLEARING NRN/CNTRL ZONES. FRIDAY...HIGH PRESSURE OVER SRN ONTARIO WILL ADVECT DRIER AIR ACROSS FA IN NE FLW. MOISTURE CONTINUES TO LINGER ESP OVR FAR SE ZONES. MS NORTHERN SECTIONS AN PS ELSEWHERE.
