SOUTHEAST ARIZONA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TUCSON AZ
200 PM MST SUN OCT 7 2001

.SYNOPSIS...A STORM SYSTEM MOVING THROUGH ARIZONA WILL KEEP
UNSETTLED WEATHER OVER THE THE STATE INTO MONDAY. SHOWERS WILL MOVE
ACROSS SOUTHEAST ARIZONA TONIGHT AND DIMINISH MONDAY. EXPECT A
DRYING TREND AS A TROUGH SETS UP OVER THE CENTRAL UNITED STATES BY
MID WEEK. THIS WILL HELP TO KEEP TEMPERATURES DOWN AND GENERATE
BREEZY PERIODS LATER IN THE WEEK.

.DISCUSSION...WEAK LOW NOW PUSHING INTO SOUTHERN ARIZONA FROM SOCAL.
HEATING HAS HELPED GENERATE ISOLATED CONVECTION THIS AFTERNOON WITH
MORE ORGANIZED PRECIPITATION CLOSER TO THE LOW. THIS WILL MOVE
THROUGH OVERNIGHT AND SHOWER COVERAGE WILL INCREASE TO SCATTERED
ACROSS THE AREA AS IT DOES.

LOOKING AT A DIMINISHING CLOUDS AND SHOWERS TREND TOMORROW (IN THE
WAKE OF THE WEAKENING IMPULSE)...BUT ISOLATED MOUNTAIN CONVECTION
STILL POSSIBLE IN THE AFTERNOON. STILL LOOKING AT SOME KIND OF MEAN
LOW POSITION GENERALLY OVER CENTRAL STATES...BUT IT IS UNCLEAR
WHETHER THIS WILL BE DOMINANT OR IF WE WILL RESIDE IN A MORE
PROTECTED FRONT FLANK OF A DEVELOPING EASTERN PACIFIC RIDGE. AT ANY
RATE...WE CAN EXPECT A DRYING TREND WITH TEMPERATURES NEAR SEASONAL
NORMALS. PROBABLY SEE GRADIENT WINDS GET UP TO BREEZY LEVELS ACROSS
THE AREA WITH WINDY POSSIBLE AT TIMES IN EASTERN PORTIONS. M

.TWC...NONE.
