EASTERN OKLAHOMA/NORTHWEST ARKANSAS FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TULSA OK 304 PM CDT TUE JUL 24 2001 FIRST ORDER OF BUSINESS IS WHAT TO DO WITH THE HEAT ADVISORY. AFTER COORDINATING WITH NORMAN AND OUR AVIATION FORECASTER HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP THE HEAT ADVISORY FOR THE COUNTIES WE HAD IT IN FOR TODAY FOR ANOTHER DAY. THE REASONING IS THAT ALTHOUGH LOWS WILL DROP BELOW 80 MOST PLACES TONIGHT THE HEAT INDEXES AND HIGH TEMPERATURES FOR TOMORROW WILL BE MUCH THE SAME AS TODAY. THE SECOND ORDER OF BUSINESS IS WHAT TO MAKE OF THE COLD FRONT THE AVN TRIES TO BRING THROUGH THE AREA TOMORROW NIGHT AND THURSDAY. WITH THE RIDGE IN PLACE HAVE A HARD TIME BELIEVING IT WILL MAKE MUCH OF A PUSH ACROSS THE AREA. THE NGM KEEPS IT WELL NORTHEAST OF HERE. THE ETA IS SIMILAR TO LAST NIGHTS UKMET IN BRINGING IT OUR DOORSTEP OR SLIGHTLY INTO THE NORTHERN PART OF THE AREA BY 00Z FRI. TEND TO BETTER BELIEVE THE ETA AND UKMET RATHER THAN THE AVN AND MRF...BUT HAVE COMPROMISED A BIT. WILL HAVE SLIGHT CHANCE POPS MOST AREAS FROM WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY AND WILL COOL TEMPERATURES ABOUT A CATEGORY. THE TEMPERATURE FORECAST IS MADE WITH THE REASONING THAT IF THE COLD FRONT DOES NOT MAKE IT THEY CAN BE RAISED A CATEGORY TO FIT AND IF THE COLD FRONT DOES MAKE IT THEY CAN BE LOWERED A CATEGORY TO FIT. THE OTHER POSSIBILITY WOULD BE WITH THE FRONT POSSIBLY COMING SOMEWHERE CLOSE CLOUDS FROM THUNDERSTORMS COULD HOLD THE TEMPERATURES DOWN A BIT. AFTER SATURDAY IT LOOKS LIKE THE HEAT WILL BE CONTINUED OR ON AGAIN. THE UPPER RIDGE REMAINS ENTRENCHED OVER THE AREA AND ALL MODELS HAVE WINDS FROM THE SOUTH.
