WEST CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST FLORIDA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY AREA - RUSKIN FL 213 PM EDT THU JUN 21 2001 CURRENTLY: ALREADY HAD A STORM WITH GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL THIS AFTERNOON OVER PINELLAS COUNTY. THIS USUALLY MEANS WE WILL SEE ANOTHER SEVERE STORM OR TWO BEFORE THE DAY IS OVER. BEST CHANCE WOULD SEEM TO BE OVER THE INTERIOR CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN COUNTIES WHERE GULF BREEZE AND ATLANTIC BREEZE COMBINE. INSTABILITY IS OBVIOUSLY IN PLACE. FORECAST: 12Z MODELS ALL SHOW REASONABLY SIMILAR EVOLUTIONS TO THE SYNOPTIC PATTERN THROUGH THE WEEKEND. DEEP UPPER TROF OVER THE UPPER MIDWEST THIS AFTERNOON WILL CONTINUE TO AMPLIFY...PARKING ITSELF AS A FULL LATITUDE TROF EXTENDING FROM EASTERN CANADA INTO THE GULF BY SATURDAY. THE MAIN SURFACE RIDGE WILL RETREAT TO THE SOUTH OF THE CWA IN RESPONSE...SETTING UP DEEP SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW LOADED WITH TROPICAL MOISTURE. THE EVENTUAL RESTING PLACE OF THAT BOUNDARY WILL BE THE LOCATION OF THE BEST CHANCES FOR RAIN...AND LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN AT THAT.
