TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

   NORTHERN AND WESTERN ALABAMA                            
   SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA                          
   SOUTHERN AND EASTERN MISSISSIPPI                        
   COASTAL WATERS                     

EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 600 PM UNTIL
1000 PM CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO
70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS ALONG AND 60 STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST
OF A LINE FROM 30 MILES SOUTH OF NEW ORLEANS LOUISIANA TO 20 MILES
NORTH NORTHWEST OF HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA.

MASS IS NOT PARTICULARLY UNSTABLE...VAD DATA INDICATE PRESENCE OF
STRONG LOW LEVEL SHEAR SUPPORTIVE OF SUPERCELLS.  A THREAT FOR
DAMAGING WIND GUSTS AND ISOLATED TORNADOES IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE
THIS EVENING BEFORE STORMS SLOWLY WEAKEN AFTER 02-03Z.
