THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  ST. CLAIR COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI

* UNTIL 830 PM CDT

* AT 418 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED   
  THUNDERSTORMS WITH VERY HEAVY RAIN EXTENDING FROM OSCEOLA         
  SOUTHWEST INTO SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS. RADAR ESTIMATED                
  RAINFALL INDICATES THAT 3 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN OVER MUCH 
  OF SOUTHERN ST. CLAIR COUNTIES SINCE NOON TODAY. 

* THUNDERSTORMS MOVING NORTHEAST FROM KANSAS AND OKLAHOMA WILL HAVE  
  THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE ANOTHER 1 TO 2 INCHES OF RAIN INTO THE    
  EARLY EVENING HOURS. THIS WILL WORSEN THE ONGOING FLOODING         
  PROBLEMS OVER THE AREA. FLOODING HAS BEEN REPORTED NEAR COLLINS ON 
  STATE HIGHWAYS 54 AND 13. 

FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS ALSO REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 PM FOR BENTON 
AND HICKORY COUNTIES.

MOST DEATHS IN FLASH FLOODING OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
CROSS BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS IF WATER COVERS THE
ROADWAY. NEVER TRY TO CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON
FOOT.
