LINE OF STORMS THAT CROSSED THE FORECAST AREA THIS MORNING HAS
STABILIZED THE ATMOSPHERE. SUBSIDENCE IN THE WAKE OF THE DEPARTING
SHORTWAVE MAY ALSO BE KEEPING A LID ON DEVELOPMENT THIS AFTERNOON.
MAIN FORECAST CONCERN IN THE SHORT TERM IS WHEN CONVECTION WILL
RETURN. WITH 20 TO 30 KNOT LOW LEVEL JET...ABUNDANT DEEP
MOISTURE...AND A FEW MORE HOURS OF SURFACE HEATING...SCATTERED
SHOWERS OR STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO FORM THIS AFTERNOON. MOST LIKELY
AREA IS SE MISSOURI...WHERE THE ATMOSPHERE HAS HAD THE MOST TIME TO
RECOVER FROM MORNING CONVECTION.

A GOOD CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL RETURN TO THE ENTIRE
FORECAST AREA TONIGHT. SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS WIDESPREAD CONVECTION
OVER THE CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION...MOVING NORTH THROUGH THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY. THIS GULF MOISTURE INFLOW IS ASSOCIATED WITH A
WEAK SHORTWAVE OVER TEXAS. THIS LEAD SHORTWAVE WILL LIFT NORTHEAST
TOWARD THE LOWER OHIO VALLEY TONIGHT...BRINGING GULF MOISTURE WITH
IT.

ETA/NGM/AVN ARE ALL TRENDING FASTER WITH THE STRONG SHORTWAVE AND
ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT OVER THE PLAINS. MODELS DEVELOP A WEAK SURFACE
LOW OVER CENTRAL MISSOURI BY 12Z SUNDAY...THEN TRACK IT NORTHEAST
INTO THE GREAT LAKES SUNDAY NIGHT. THE TRAILING COLD FRONT CROSSES
THE LOWER OHIO VALLEY LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON OR EVENING. PASSAGE OF
THE COLD FRONT AROUND THE WARMEST TIME OF DAY FAVORS WIDESPREAD
COVERAGE OF THUNDERSTORMS. WIND PROFILES FROM MODEL SOUNDINGS ARE
UNIDIRECTIONAL FROM 30 TO 45 KNOTS...INDICATING POTENTIAL FOR WIND
IN STORMS THAT BOW. SEVERE THREAT WILL BE STRONGLY INFLUENCED BY THE
EXTENT OF CLOUDS AND SHOWERS DURING THE MORNING.
