MARTIN COUNTY IN EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA * UNTIL 930 PM EDT * AT 831 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FROM OAK CITY TO BETHEL...MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH. * SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE NEAR... AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEWPORT/MOREHEAD CITY NC 220 PM EDT TUE MAY 22 2001 MAIN FOCUS OF FCST WILL BE THREAT OF SVR WEATHER LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT AHEAD OF APPROACHING COLD FRONT. FRONT WILL SLOW AS IS NEARS THE COAST...LOSING ITS PUSH AS IT MOVES INTO THE STRONG RIDGE IN THE WRN ATLANTIC. MODELS ALL SHOW A SPLIT OF UVM AND MOISTURE TO THE N AND S OF OUR CWA FOR THE EARLY PART OF THE EVENING. HOWEVER...GIVEN CURRENT INSTABILITY THINK IF A SQUALL LINE DEVELOPS TO OUR W OR SW IT WILL HOLD TOGETHER AND PUSH THROUGH OUR AREA.
