000 WGUS51 KLWX 070756 FFWLWX WVC003-070945- BULLETIN - EAS ACTIVATION REQUESTED FLASH FLOOD WARNING NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON 350 AM EDT THU JUN 7 2001 THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STERLING VIRGINIA HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR... BERKELEY COUNTY IN THE PANHANDLE OF WEST VIRGINIA * UNTIL 545 AM EDT * AT 350 AM EDT... VERY HEAVY RAINFALL WAS MOVING EAST ACROSS THE COUNTY. A BAND OF HEAVY RAIN WAS REMAINING OVER BERKELEY COUNTY. THIS BAND WILL MOVE EAST OF THE AREA BETWEEN 5 AND 6 AM...BUT MANY LOW LYING AREAS AND ROADS WILL FLOOD AND THERE WILL BE SOME BASEMENT FLOODING. MARTINSBURG HAS REPORTED NEARLY TWO INCHES OF RAIN OVERNIGHT...AN INCH OF WHICH FELL BETWEEN 2 AND 4 THIS MORNING. ANOTHER INCH IS LIKELY BEFORE THE RAIN ENDS. BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODS AND FLASH FLOODS. IF FLASH FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS.
