SOUTHEAST TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION ...COR PRELIMS NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX 215 PM CDT THU MAY 31 2001 WET MESS ACROSS THE AREA TODAY...WITH A MAJORITY OF THE PRECIP FALLING OVER THE SE 1/2 OF THE FA. A SECOND AREA OF RAINFALL WITH STRONG THUNDERSTORMS ARE CLUSTERING/BACKBUILDING ALONG THE NEARLY STATIONARY OUTFLOW BOUNDARY IN OUR NE ZONES. WS-ETA INDICATES THIS N AND NE AREA WILL REMAIN UNDER THE GUN WITH STRONG LATE AFTERNOON DIFFERENTIAL HEATING AS THE DRIVER. THE MID-LEVEL CIRCULATION THAT IS PUSHING THE LINE OF STORMS INTO THE GULF SHOULD TRACK THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE FA AND GRADUALLY END THE THREAT OF RAIN FOR TONIGHT (EXCEPT UP NORTH). FRONT NEAR FTW WILL DRIFT SLOWLY SOUTH AND SHOULD BE OVER THE NORTHERN FA BY MORNING. WILL PROBABLY GET SOME PATCHY FOG...ESPECIALLY OVER THE AREAS THAT SAW A LOT OF RAIN TODAY (AND POSSIBLY CLEAR SKIES TONIGHT). AS THE ATMOSPHERE WILL PROBABLY HAVE BEEN SCOURED OUT...DO NOT FORESEE MUCH OF A THREAT ON FRIDAY BUT WILL PROBABLY KEEP A 20 POP IN FOR DAYTIME HEATING/LINGERING MESOSCALE BOUNDARIES. FRONTOLYSIS SHOULD DECIMATE THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY SATURDAY...ANOTHER COLD FRONT DROPPING SOUTH THROUGH THE PLAINS SHOULD BE NEARING THE RED RIVER REGION BY EARLY SATURDAY NIGHT THEN RACING BACK NORTH SUNDAY MORNING (PER AVN).
