AS OF THE LATE AFTERNOON...A STATIONARY FRONT CONTINUED TO EXTEND
ALONG THE NORTH CAROLINA...SOUTH CAROLINA BORDER. A VERY HUMID AND
UNSTABLE AIRMASS EXISTS ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA. THUNDERSTORMS ARE
EXPECTED TO DEVELOP THIS EVENING...ALONG THE FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND
ALONG THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE MOUNTAINS.

WITH RATHER COLD...AND VERY DRY AIR ALOFT...STORMS WHICH DEVELOP IN
OR NEAR THE MOUNTAINS WILL TEND TO BECOME STRONG TO SEVERE AS THEY
MOVE SOUTHEAST INTO THE FOOTHILLS AND PIEDMONT THIS EVENING. SIMILAR
STORMS OCCURRED SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THE PRIMARY THREAT FROM THESE
STORMS WILL BE DAMAGING WINDS AND ISOLATED AREAS OF LARGE HAIL.

LATER TONIGHT...OTHER STRONG STORMS MAY MOVE INTO THE WESTERN PART
OF THE NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS. THESE STORMS SHOULD BE WEAKENING BY
THE TIME THEY ENTER THE MOUNTAINS...HOWEVER...THE POTENTIAL WILL
STILL EXIST FOR SOME DAMAGING WINDS.
