VAL VERDE * UNTIL 800 PM CDT * AT 555 PM...WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN OVER SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF VAL VERDE COUNTY WITH OTHER THUNDERSTORMS MOVING IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST. EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...COUNTRY ROADS...NORMALLY DRY WASHES AND ARROYOS...AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. VEHICLES CAUGHT IN RISING WATER SHOULD BE ABANDONED QUICKLY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND. SECONDARY ROADS AND CROSSINGS ACROSS VAL VERDE COUNTY WILL FLOOD THE NEXT FEW HOURS. MOTORISTS SHOULD DRIVE SLOWER...BE PREPARED TO STOP...AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ENTER FLOODED BRIDGES AND CROSSINGS. SMALL STREAMS AND CREEKS IN THIS AREA CAN RISE VERY RAPIDLY.
